In 2005 I was transferred to the city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania on the East Coast of Africa 7 degrees south of the equator on a three year expatriate assignment. Being in such close proximity to the world famous and renowned Serengeti National park I bought my first DSLR camera. Visits to various National Game Reserves and National Parks such as Sadaani, Makumi, Ngorogoro Conservation area and the Serengeti plains cemented my relationship with photography and specifically nature and wild life and latterly a leaning to photographing birds - not because they are easy - but because they are hard to get right.
On returning to Johannesburg in South Africa I bought a Land Cruiser to further my ability to visit the fabulous South African Game Reserves/Nature Reserves/National Parks and to passionately indulge myself in my photographic hobby upgrading my skills and equipment along the way.
I retired from working fulltime in business in 2013 and have since then had the opportunity to visit on multiple occasions such famous reserves as the Kruger National Part, Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and Madikwe Game Reserve amongst others. Photographing some incredible sightings of wild animal and bird life and realising just how lucky I am to experience them all. This privileged set of circumstances has driven me to share my photographs with anyone not as fortunate to have the same opportunities.
This website is my gallery to the world. Please feel free to leave your comments on the photographs. Should you wish to contact me please click on the Contact me icon on the menu bar - I'd love to hear from you.
Madikwe Game Reserve a 750,000 hectare reserve, is situated in the North-West Province of South Africa just on the Botswana/South African boarder. Home to the Big 5 and accessible only with professional Game Drive vehicles and then they have limited simultaneous access to sightings so it provides unique (virtually traffic free) opportunities for wild life photography.
